The bookstore I got all those Hot Wheels from now stocks the sort of super glue with brush applicators. Anything in particular I need to know about these? Any brands I should look out for or stay away from?

Have a Spitfire + Me 262 for your troubles.

I can't help with the glue issue but are these the aircraft you will be making?
The Spitfire Vb RFD EN951 was the third of three Spitfires flown by Polish national Jan Zumbach of 303 Squadron,

As cool as the Spitfire is... Is that the Messerschmidt Me 262 in the background? Much cooler vehicle IMO.

Nope, sorry. More to the point I can't find any kits of the 2 aircraft depicted anyway...

The Spitfire is over-rated

All of Britain now hates me...but deal with it. It was a good plane, but it's over-rated. So is the P-51, if I'm honest.

The ME-262 was a much more significant advancement, even if it wasn't the greatest airplane.

I had a Me262 When I was much younger. easy enough to put together but I ended up breaking off the Radar antennae and then the front wheel, and then the removeable engine covers got lost... then I painted it. I miss being 9...

Now that you have made disparaging remarks towards our beloved Spits and Mustangs, you must counter with a WWII single-engined fighter that fought in the same theater that you feel was superior. It's the rules you know.

Let me clarify. I'm not saying they were bad , I'm just saying they get unfairly put on a higher pedestal than any other plane from WWII.

For example, the P-47 is a massively underrated airplane. It was really heavy, so not as nimble as a P-51, but it was ridiculously fast, especially in a dive, and it was a tank. If I was a German pilot I'd be far more terrified by a P-47, they would have been really hard to get away from and even harder to take down.

On a similar note, the Spitfire gets a ton of credit (much of it deserved), but the real workhorse of the British fleet was the Hurricane, of which there were more flown in combat and recorded far more kills than Spits. Spitfires would distract the BF-109s so the Hurricanes could go in and actually take out the German bombers.

If you allow me to expand the theater of war, the F6F Hellcat was way more impressive when taken as a whole package than either of the two. Not only was it good, but it was so good that no one saw the need to change it throughout the war. It shot down more airplanes than the P-51, and I believe it had a better safety record. Pilots even preferred it to the much more 'popular' F4U Corsair.

TL;DR: While the Spitfire and P-51 were pretty and put up decent numbers, there were other aircraft that I think were better packages than either of them.

I agree that the 'Bolts and the Hellcats were great planes in there own right, especially if you took a round or two in the engine. I believe the original context here may have been regarding the pure acceleration, speed and handling attributed to the Spitfire and Mustangs, making them the "pilot's plane" akin to the sports cars we hold dearly.

I couldn't agree more, really. The Mustang and the Spitfire where workhorses, and fine planes. But if the 262 had really been mass produced it would have changed the world.

There was no context here. Just a picture of a Spitfire.

As a handler, sure, the Spitfire and Mustang were hard to beat. As a factor in the war? I'll give credit to the P-51, but the Spitfire is massively overrated in that right. It was too difficult to build and too unreliable.

Hmm. Oppositelock. Spitfire. No context. OK.

Kreiger posted a picture of a Spitfire (well, painting) while asking about superglue. AthomSfere commented on it, and I expanded. That's the context, or lack thereof. There was no reference made in the original post about the Spitfire or Mustangs performance or stance as 'pilot's planes'
